new culture method on trial

this was during Gerakan Desa Wawasan at Keningau. Pak Lah was our PM at tht time. I must say, he’s very humble and polite in person, u can just approach him without worrying about the protocol and the bodyguard. I did offer him UMS homemade chocolate with seaweed filling, and he was so anxious to try it. So sweet of him… **Klu ikut protokol, u cannot just simply gave our PM a sample, food especially, because it has to be examine first.

food is always been an issue during forum, seminar or workshop, if its involving participants from various countries. some of the participants are vegetarian, some of them are not into meat so much and they cannot consume spicy food and etc… etc… etc… so, as a host, we need to make sure all those small things have been taking care of. and meridien is one of the hotel that been criticize when it comes to food. i remember a few years back, we held an international workshop there, the food was eeuuuwwww…. not good.

but, to our surprise, food during the welcoming dinner was great!! with varieties of choices. they hv western and malays food. since meridien is a five star hotel, so whatever your wish is their command!! heheheeee… but they served great service. good job!!! many thanks to shona and dayang and the rest of the team for your great help!! ^0^

1st day…. the workshop was held in informal form. there’s presentation from Dr. Suhaimi and also from our guest speaker, Dr. Ian Neish. Dr. Ian is from Cook Island, if am not mistaken… he’s now stayed in Sulawesi Selatan, Indonesia, and he’s the founder of Seaplant Foundation. He’s one of the first person who came to Semporna back in 1970′s and introduced seaweed to the farmers. He told us that he stayed at Pulau Sipadan at that time but he moved to Indonesia in 1990′s due to Abu Sayyaf abduction.
